Chocolate Ad Cadbury Flake Girl 1969

1969

Product: Cadbury Flake

A chocolate bar first produced in the 1920's and currently manufactured by Cadbury.  The "Flake Girl" and the series of ads became famous as a symbol of indulgence and secret pleasure, with more than a hint of sexual undertone. Since the first airing in 1959, the ads flirted with controversy.  Cadbury were first obliged to take their advert off air in the 70's following complaints about the manner in which the woman bit into the bar.

  2. Welcome! :)

Indeed, wonder what the gender breakdown on sales were. The directors finally laid the series to rest in 2010, as one observer put it, only a Cad would bury the flake girl. :)
